OUR STORY
Chris “The Doc” Ingrassia founded Mustang Restorations, Inc. in 1980. He opened the first shop in Elgin and outgrew that location quite quickly before moving the shop to its current location in East Dundee, where it is now the largest Mustang restoration shop on the planet.
With over four decades of experience, we are committed to the highest quality craftsmanship. We can take your restoration to concours-level and will do the proper research to ensure that all the parts are factory-correct and all the factory markings are in place. Your Mustang will actually be restored to be even better than it was when it left the Ford plant decades ago. And if a concours-level restoration isn’t in your budget, we’ll do our absolute best to stay within your budget and perform a restoration that fits your needs and makes your ride safe to drive.
Even if your ride isn’t a Mustang and you’d like it restored, contact us, and let’s talk. We’ve restored many different vehicles that aren’t Mustangs, and we, or course, do our normal premium-quality restoration including all the research necessary to ensure that it’s done correctly.

The Mustang that started it all
In January of 1968, Chris’ father Tony purchased a 1968 Mustang as seen in this video, where he can be seen arriving at work in New Jersey for the first time with his new Mustang. After putting a few hundred thousand miles on the Mustang, it was given to Chris’ brother Rick to use for collage. Eventually, Chris got the car in the late 70s and restored it, using it as the inspiration to start a business. Tony worked side-by-side at the shop with Chris for over 30 years. Since then, Chris has had a lifetime love for Mustangs. This Mustang is now on display in our showroom.
